How Common Are Resin Crafts in Everyday Life?

In everyday life, we often come across dolls or decorative items, and I’ve always assumed they were made of materials like plastic. It wasn’t until I learned more about the handicraft industry that I realized I was wrong—in fact, these items are all made of resin. So, just how common are these resin crafts in our daily lives?

When people hear “resin crafts,” they might immediately think of various exquisite decorative pieces. But in reality, resin crafts aren’t limited to just these items. The children’s dolls that are selling like hotcakes on the market are actually made of resin—it’s just that people don’t pay much attention to the material, and even if they do, they usually assume it’s just plastic.

Many everyday household items are also resin crafts. For example, resin tissue boxes are actually very common. Generally, people who place a high value on quality of life tend to choose tissue boxes that stand out. In terms of appearance, resin tissue boxes are much more elegant than ordinary ones, yet many people aren’t very familiar with the material itself; in fact, many simply assume they’re just high-end plastic products.

We often see maneki-neko figurines of various styles in restaurants or other commercial establishments; a large portion of these are made of resin. Many that look like ceramic are actually resin crafts—this is because other materials are added to the resin during the manufacturing process, and when fused together, they alter its appearance.

Resin is a remarkable material, as it is not limited by external factors. In fact, there are many items in our daily lives that are crafted from resin—we just aren’t aware of them. The three resin crafts mentioned above are merely representative examples.
